Two die in separate crashes in Evans
EVANS — The Evans Police Department handled two fatal accidents over a span of 48 hours.
The first occurred on Friday afternoon at 3:20 when a Ford pickup towing a trailer was traveling westbound on Southwestern Boulevard at Pontiac Road. It rear-ended a pair of vehicles and then crossed into the eastbound lane of traffic and was struck by a Dodge Journey vehicle. The driver, a 25-year-old from Farnham, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger of the Dodge, a 43-year-old, was flown by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center. The driver was transported by AMR ambulance to ECMC as well. Southwestern Boulevard was closed for several hours during the investigation, which is ongoing.
On Sunday morning, Evans police responded to Holland Road after a motorcycle and its operator were discovered nearby. An investigation revealed the incident occurred in the evening hours of Saturday when the operator failed to negotiate a turn. The 56-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene.
Names in both incidents were being withheld pending notification of family members.
