Mayor attends veteran meeting
The Dunkirk Disabled American Veterans Post 142 Charles Tinley Memorial Chapter would like to thank Mayor Kate Wdowiasz for her attendance at their June meeting. Wdowiasz attended the meeting to help answer questions and concerns regarding the amphitheater project in Memorial Park. Others voiced concerns about the bathroom and parking situations, while the main worry of many was the rumor of World War I veterans who were buried there as paupers. The motion was made to have the Treasurer of the chapter Kenneth DeLong of Dunkirk be present during the future ground-breaking to ensure if any unmarked graves were found the remains would be properly reburied elsewhere. Overall, there is cautious optimism amongst members who had concerns this project will be done respectfully and properly as to keep the land in best use.
