Two from Hamburg charged in Dunkirk robberies

Robert Lyman
Mikayla Miller

Two Hamburg individuals connected to a pair of Dunkirk robberies are in custody.

On Saturday, Robert Lyman, 32, was located and taken into custody by the Buffalo Police Department. He was transported to Dunkirk City Court, where he was arraigned on one count of third-degree robbery and one count of third-degree attempted robbery in connection with incidents that occurred June 16 at the Family Dollar on East Fourth Street and Crosby Mart on Central Avenue.

Following his arraignment, Lyman was turned over to the Town of Hamburg Police Department to face additional charges related to a separate robbery that allegedly occurred in the town of Hamburg. Lyman is to return to Dunkirk City Court on Aug. 18 for a preliminary hearing.

During the initial investigation, officers interviewed a female who was in the area of the second robbery. During that interview, Mikayla Miller, 31, provided investigators with information that significantly hindered the investigation. As the investigation progressed, detectives determined Miller was an associate of Lyman and was aware of the crime that Lyman had committed.

As a result, she was charged with one count of second-degree obstruction of governmental administration. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued for Miller. She was later located in the town of Hamburg, taken into custody, and arraigned on the charge. Miller was released by the court and is scheduled to be in Dunkirk City Court at a later date.
