A flash flood warning is in effect for portions of Chautauqua County through 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or could begin shortly.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Dunkirk, Fredonia, Westfield, Silver Creek, Mayville, Lake Erie State Park, SUNY Fredonia, Chautauqua Institution, Findley Lake, Chautauqua, Portland, Sheridan, Ripley, Stockton, Brocton, Mina, Arkwright, Sherman, Forestville and Cassadaga.
