Fredonia woman charged in theft of patient funds at nursing home

A Fredonia woman has been charged after a months-long investigation into the theft of funds from nursing home patients.

Around April 22, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Investigators received a complaint regarding the issue at a facility in the town of Dunkirk. Investigators later charged Stacey Fadale, 45, with third-degree grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records.

It is alleged that over the course of several years, Fadale had stolen in excess of $11,000 in funds from multiple patients. It is also alleged Fadale destroyed records of the facility in order to help conceal the larceny of patient funds.

A warrant of arrest was applied for out of the town of Dunkirk Court. On Wednesday, Fadale turned herself in and was arraigned at the Chautauqua County Jail Centralized Arraignment Program on the charges.
