SILVER CREEK -- The leadership of the Silver Creek Board of Education will remain the same. Matt Bogosian was re-elected as Board President, with Jerry Cross re-elected as Vice President. Following the May election, Jenna Schwab has now officially replaced Martha Howard on the Board.

Continuity and change both apply to student representation on the Board, as Silver Creek has welcomed a new student member, Alanna Waite, to serve alongside Molly Shaw, who is set to begin her senior year. The district will move forward with one junior and one senior member each year, allowing the junior member to learn from a member already with experience in the role. Shaw was chosen as the district's first student representative in the spring of 2025.

Several resignations were accepted by the Board at a recent meeting, including Alicia Rutkowski-Warecki, Spanish Teacher, who took an unpaid leave of absence at the end of the 2025-26 school year. Also resigning from the district: Tina Boothe, Teacher Aide; Teri Fish, Lunch Monitor; and Shawn Smith, Part-Time Cleaner. Toni Kelley, Lunch Monitor, was terminated. Kimberly Rich was granted a leave of absence.

Donna Roof was appointed as Director of Community Education for the 2026-2027 school year at a rate of $1,835 per semester; Beth Miller was appointed as Community Center Coordinator at a stipend of $5,000; Kristin McChesney was appointed as KnightU Coordinator at a stipend of $5,000; and Catherine Casselberry was appointed as Pool Director. Elizabeth Guzzetta was appointed as CSE/504 Chairperson for the 2026-2027 school year.

Mark Bratcher and Kelly Pieniazek were named as Co-Mentor Coordinators. Teacher mentors for the 2026-27 school year were also appointed. Michelle Helmer was named as Administrator for the Title VI and My Brother's Keeper grants, with Aimee Sleeth serving as Native American Career Pathway Program Coordinator and Samantha Scanlan serving as Mentor/Family Liaison.

The Board approved updated rates for district substitutes, while approving a series of substitutes for the upcoming year. Lifeguards and fitness guards were also approved for the 2026-27 school year. Josh Tedone, a former Dunkirk Principal, was retroactively appointed as a long-term substitute Elementary Teacher.

Gavin Defries, Tyler Januchowski, and Leah Merchant were approved as Summer Information Technology Interns. Frank Bonasera was appointed as a Summer Cleaner. Christian Charles, Kari Case, and McKenna Miller were appointed to Summer School positions, as well.

The next Board of Education meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 13 at 6 p.m.
