Dunkirk Intermediate School held its annual Halloween costume parade around the school building on Friday afternoon. At promptly 2 p.m., Principal Kim Texter opened the doors and held a toy child in the air, dressed as Miss Agatha Trunchbull, the former Olympic athlete and headmistress of Crunchem Hall in Matilda. Students walked down the hill and around the school with parents, guardians and friends cheering them on. Costumes ranged from a SWAT officer, Wonder Woman, SpongeBob SquarePants, and a dinosaur. Avery Carmen, a fourth-grade student, led her class in the front of the line for the parade dressed as Princess Red from Descendants. Some of the teachers got in on the fun, as well, like Tammy Notarnicola, who dressed as the Wicked Witch of the West as she led her class along the outside of the school during the parade.
