Water samples were collected Thursday morning in Fredonia, putting the village on the path to ending its boil order.
The village Office of Emergency Management announced the news in an update at 10:50 a.m.
"Good news: Treated water, turbidity level levels have improved and stabilized, allowing the first steps of samples to be collected this morning," the update stated.
A second set of samples will be collected Friday morning. The county health department lab will analyze the samples, with results expected Saturday morning. "At that time, a determination will be made to either lift or continue the boil order."
The Office of Emergency Management announced separately on Wednesday that a very limited supply of bottled water is available at the Fredonia Fire Department. Water will be rationed for those with the greatest need. It's intended for residents who can’t safely boil water or acquire bottled water.
People interested in getting water should call the fire department's non-emergency line at 672-2125, then press option 1 when prompted.
