An organization dedicated to helping the needy is in dire need of community support.

In a Facebook post, the Chautauqua County Rural Ministry said it "is facing a critical food shortage, and our pantry shelves are nearly empty."

On Tuesday, the agency said it served 40 families through its food pantry, welcomed 20 new individuals for lunch, provided 120 lunches, and distributed 100 takeout dinners.

"The need in our community is growing rapidly, and we are struggling to keep up," the post said. "We urgently need donations to keep our food pantry stocked and our services running."
