Scout Troop 267 of Fredonia, hosted by American Legion Post 59, celebrated a successful summer at its Court of Honor ceremony in September. The event highlighted achievements from the Troop's July summer camp at Custaloga Town Scout Reserve in Carlton, Pa., and formally recognized Scouts and leaders for their accomplishments.
This summer, 15 Scouts and two leaders attended camp, where they earned dozens of merit badges, advanced in rank, and received special awards. Highlights included The Paul Bunyan Woodsman award given to Tyler Field and three scouts getting their Totin' Chip: Jax Ostler, Rainn Szczerbacki and Eben Wille.
Also, one scout; Jethduan Cordova-Olmo attended the national Jamboree in Glen Jean, W.Va., this summer and earned the following awards: The Totem Pole, Lift high the cross, and WVU Science in Sports Patch Set.
Merit badge achievements spanned a wide range of interests, from personal management, to cooking, family life, citizenship, and swimming. The troop enjoyed rifle shooting, ziplining, and rappelling off a tower as well. During the ceremony, Scouts were formally recognized: Ben Spengler advanced to the rank of Eagle; Rainn Szczerbacki advanced to second class and Jax Ostler was promoted to Tenderfoot rank.
Troop 267 also announced upcoming community events in support of Scouting:
