Central Station preserving Dunkirk one sandwich at a time

March 3 marked the fourth anniversary of ownership of Central Station Restaurant in Dunkirk by Robert Contiguglia and Kathleen Dennison, former owners of The White Inn in Fredonia.

Contiguglia and Dennison, both MBA graduates of Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration, owned and operated The White Inn for 15 years, and subsequently managed the Bayangol Hotel in Ulaan Baatar, Mongolia. Their vision is to provide quality scratch cooking in a casual setting, and to preserve downtown Dunkirk, one sandwich at a time.

Central Station Restaurant is open seven days a week, serving breakfast, lunch, and Friday Fish Fry. All items are made from scratch, and are sourced from local ingredients whenever possible.

The breakfast menu features portable sandwiches and wraps, as well as traditional breakfast entrees like corned beef hash, omelets, and pancakes. Specialty items include smoked salmon eggs benedict, cinnamon swirl pancakes, French toast stuffed with vanilla creme, and the famous Handsome Egg Sandwich.

The lunch menu includes favorites such as Soup and Sandwich, the Club, Beef on Weck, the BIG Burger, Greek Chicken Salad, and Philly Wrap. There is a wide variety of specialty sandwiches, wraps, and salads, including vegetarian options.

In addition to the regular lunch menu, Central Station Restaurant offers daily specials including soups, entrees, and freshly made desserts. Central Station Restaurant is open late on Fridays for a fabulous fish fry, featuring haddock that can be baked, pan-fried, or deep-fried in an original batter made with Yuengling beer.

The restaurant also offers drop-off catering for your office or home. Sandwich platters, salads, and desserts are available for groups of any size. For catered events, or for individual orders, delivery is offered Monday through Saturday in the Dunkirk/Fredonia area.

Central Station Restaurant is located at 332 Central Avenue in Dunkirk, and is open daily. Hours of operation are: Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Friday 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday features breakfast only all day. The lunch menu is available for delivery Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
