The Value of investment: The Chamber serves businesses large and small

The Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce is working for businesses of all sizes and varieties throughout the year. The Chamber’s mission is to create a business environment in the region where our members can thrive. To do that, we use the membership investment of our members to provide services that are meaningful in a number of ways.

The Chamber drives foot and internet traffic to our members and helps local businesses increase their sales. The Shoptauqua Gift Card program has facilitated the flow of millions of dollars throughout the Chautauqua County economy. Gift cards can be purchased through the Chamber and redeemed at over 150 business across Chautauqua County. Keeping these dollars within the county can cycle many times over, which increases the economic benefit exponentially to our member business partners.

The County Chamber in partnership with its six Community Chambers produces events each year with the support of over 100 volunteers from businesses and the community at large. These events are designed to highlight our local businesses and drive foot traffic into their doors. Whether it’s the weekend-long Presidents Day Weekend Winter Festival in Mayville or the one-night Jamestown Cruise-In, the Chamber is driving people to our local business community.

The County Chamber fosters thousands of interactions each year among businesses, all designed to help our members make connections and increase sales with their business peers. Through programming such as the Experience Chautauqua Business After Hour series, the Annual Meeting, Chamber Golf Tournament, Community Chamber meetings and events, and the County Chamber Annual Awards Banquet, our members have prime opportunities through the year to connect with other businesses.

This past year the Chamber of Commerce began providing member businesses with new services to help support the human resource management function of their organizations. The Chamber launched a human resource platform to help members comply with state and federal regulations. This was especially important as the York State Workplace Harassment requirements took full effect. This interactive online platform offers compliance videos that meet the Department of Labor requirements and is offered at no additional charge to our members.

The Chamber continues to offer businesses a wide variety of employee benefits such as health insurance and ancillary benefits including dental and vision coverage. Free consultations are provided to chamber members.

The Chamber of Commerce provides a voice to all Chautauqua County businesses at the federal, state, regional and local level. Annually the Chamber’s Public Policy Committee develops public policy priorities with a focus on improving the business environment in the region. Importantly, the Chamber hosts a series of forums with elected officials including the legislative breakfast, the county executive breakfast and the congressional luncheon. These forums present an opportunity for businesses to meet with elected officials and receive updates on important issues.

The Chamber of Commerce supports a variety of partner organizations in the region that foster economic and tourism development. We applaud the hard work of our friends at the Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency and County Economic Development along with the Small Business Development Center for their efforts to support and help grow businesses. We are also proud to work in partnership with the Chautauqua County Visitors Bureau to provide services, referrals, and information for visitors to Chautauqua County and to help promote local attractions, festivals, and businesses that are integral to our growing our economy.

The Chamber of Commerce serves its members and the entire community every day by providing services and programs that boost our economy.
