Vonette “Bonnie” Chalmers
Vonette V. “Bonnie” Chalmers, 81, of Fredonia died Sunday morning (Oct. 26, 2014) at Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa.
She was born Feb. 27, 1933 in Buffalo, the daughter of the late William and Gertrude (Davis) Tripp.
An area resident since 1960, Mrs. Chalmers was a homemaker.
She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Dunkirk. An avid bingo player and bowler, she coached junior bowling at Lucky Lanes for 40 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Chalmers of Fredonia and Christine (Gary) Pleva of Forestville; one son, Lee Chalmers of Mesa, Ariz.; one sister, Margaret Eimers of Hamburg; three grandchildren, Kayla Lynn Pleva, Adam Alexander Pleva and Sarah Rose Pleva; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander L. Chalmers, who died in May 2004; one daughter, Cheryl L. Chalmers in May 1974; three brothers, William, Charles and Donald Tripp; and four sisters, Eleanor, Anita Fletcher, Mert Sitarski and Violet Lenius.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11 o’clock in the First United Presbyterian Church in Dunkirk. The Rev. Molly T. Golando will officiate. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
