Anne Louise Spencer
Anne Louise (Mikula) Spencer, age 82, of Fredonia, N.Y., died Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk.
A Fredonia Place resident at the time of her death, Anne was born in Stockton, N.Y. on December 31, 1931 to the late Anthony and Balbina (Czekaj) Mikula.
She grew up in the Stockton-Cassadaga area, and graduated from Cassadaga Valley High School in 1949.
She married her husband Kenneth Spencer, Sr., in 1957. He died in 1987, just shy of their 30th wedding anniversary.
An active woman her entire life, Anne had many interests. She enjoyed playing cards (especially pinochle), bowling, watching football (Pigskin Prognosticator), polka music, dancing, traveling, socializing with her many friends, and most of all her family.
Anne worked for a shorttime at Red Wing and the Fredonia Seed Company. She was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Anne is survived by her 5 children: Kenneth Spencer Jr. (Tara) of Girard, IL, Daniel B. Spencer (Sharon) of Midland, TX, Linda A. (Jim) Kurgan of Dunkirk, NY, Jeffrey A. Spencer (Robin) of Houston, TX, and Scott M. Spencer (Mary) of Midland, TX; 12 grandchildren: Kenneth III, Corinne Tuttle, Sylvia, Kolton, Stephen Parr-Miller, Kristen, Daniel Jr., and Courtney Spencer, Jason Kurgan, Jeremiah Kurgan, and Lisa Kurgan, Stefanie; 7 great grandchildren: Aaliyah Defenbaugh, Sophia Tuttle, Everett Tuttle, Kenneth IV, Janessa, Damien, and Halle Spencer; siblings: Lottie Smith, of Menifee, CA, Anthony Mikula, Joseph Mikula of Stockton, NY; a niece Irene Burek Goot; and her former daughter-in-law, Louise H. Ball Chism. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and her husband, Anne was preceded in death by her 24-year companion, Louie Milk; a brother, Stanley Mikula and a sister, Genevieve (Jean) Mikula Burek.
Calls may be made Sunday 4-7 p.m. at the LARSON-TIMKO Funeral Home, 20 Central Avenue, Fredonia, NY, where funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
