LaDeel H. Mizwa

LaDeel H. Mizwa, 84, of Fredonia, NY passed away peacefully at home Monday, Dec. 8, 2014. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Frank C. “Spike” Mizwa, and her parents, Helen and Leon Jones.

A lifelong resident of Chautauqua County, LaDeel loved the region and the people. She had wonderful memories of early married life in Cassadaga, her family and friends in Mayville, Jamestown, Dunkirk and other towns and life back in Fredonia since the 1970s.

LaDeel was a member of the Fredonia Baptist Church, serving on the Board of Trustees for many years; a member of the Fredonia Garden Club, the Eastern Stars and Wimodausis. She graduated from Fredonia High School and was one of the long-time reunion organizers for her 1948 class.

An ardent supporter of the arts, LaDeel loved events at the Fredonia Opera House and the college’s Rockefeller Arts Center. For years, she and Frank were members of a Jamestown ballroom dance team. Her greatest joys were her family and friends and sunsets on the lake.

She will be greatly missed by her sister, Joy Jones of Fredonia; brother Dan L. Jones, Fort Lauderdale, FL; children Frank and Sue Mizwa of Dunkirk and John and Frandel (Mizwa) Marsh of Maryland; grandchildren Scott and Michelle Mizwa from Dix Hills, Long Island, Amy Mizwa Ward of Lancaster, NY; great-grandchildren Alexis, Trevor, Jason and Matthew and many cousins, extended family members, friends and classmates.

Arrangements are by Fantauzzi Funeral Home, 82 East Main St., Fredonia, NY with a Saturday, Dec. 13th viewing from Noon – 2 p.m.; a 2:00 p.m. service following viewing with Rev. Donald Howard; and burial at Forest Hill Cemetery following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the Fredonia Opera House, or Friends of Rockefeller Arts Center at SUNY College at Fredonia or a charitable organization of choice.
