Stephen M. Haynes
GOWANDA Stephen M. Haynes passed away on December 14, 2014, after a two-year battle with cancer. He was 59 years old. He is survived by his mother, Jean (Konert) Anni of Gowanda; his brothers,
Brian Haynes (and sister-in-law Karen Haynes, nee Spletzer) of Severn, Maryland and Jeffrey Haynes of Delevan, New York; and was the beloved of Jennifer Logan of the Cattaraugus Reservation. He is also sur-
vived by nephews Alexander Haynes of Fairfield, California and Justin Haynes of Hyde Park, New York, and niece Cassandra Haynes of Severn, Maryland. Steve was predeceased by his father, Charles W.
“Mort” Haynes of South Dayton, New York. During the last two years, he received exceptional care from The Jonah Center at ECMC. During the last two weeks he also received excellent care from ECMC.
Steve’s family and friends are extremely proud of his decision to donate his body to the University of Buffalo, School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, for medical study and research. Steve attended Gowanda Central High School. He was well known as an experienced roofer, carpenter, painter, and home repairman. He also was a designer and builder of signature wishing wells, which a number of area homes proudly display. One of these fine wishing wells can be found as far away as North Carolina.He was a close friend of Bill W. and active in several area groups for over 14 years and a mentor to many. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on December 16 at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 40 South Chapel St. in Gowanda, New York. Donations may be made in memory of Stephen M.
