Jacob A. Schuk

Jacob A. “Jake” Schuk, 18, of Fredonia died tragically Thursday (Oct. 15, 2015) in the Town of Pomfret, leaving his family and friends heartbroken.

He was born Nov. 19, 1996 in Dunkirk, the beloved son of John E. and Paula (Frazier) Schuk of Fredonia.

A lifelong area resident, Jake graduated from Fredonia High School in June 2015.

He was employed by Valone Ford in Fredonia as an auto detailer. Sadly, his plans to become an electrical lineman were cut short.

An avid BMX and motocross enthusiast, Jake traveled with his family this past spring to Florida, where he rode at several bike parks. He grew up at the motocross track with his family and friends and maintained many of those friendships till the day of his death. He was a member of the American Motorcycle Association.

Besides his parents, Jake is survived by three brothers, J.J. Bankosh, Zackary Schuk and Dylan Schuk, all of Fredonia; his paternal grandmother, Carol Schuk of Dunkirk; and his maternal grandparents, Barbara Frazier of Dunkirk and Craig Frazier of Fredonia. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, John Schuk, who died in 1988; and his great-grandfather, Grover Frazier.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock in Holy Trinity Church. Father Daniel P. Walsh will officiate. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
