Harry Kowal

Harry Kowal, of Cassadaga, New York died December 19, 2015 at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk, New York. He was born in Buffalo, NY on April 16, 1933 to the late Alexander and Sonia (Gorsky) Kowal.

After graduating from South Park High School, Harry joined the U.S. Navy and was on active duty from 1952-1956.

From January of 1962 to May of 1984, Harry was a NY State trooper. Following his retirement with the State Police, he worked at Niagara Mohawk from 1984 to 1994.

On September 12, 1964, Harry married “the love of his life,” Louise (Lopat) Kowal.

He had been a member of the Association of Former NYS Troopers.

Harry enjoyed “coffee time” at McDonald’s as well as gardening, driving, and playing the lottery.

Besides his wife, Louise, Harry is survived by his daughters, Diane (Kowal) Temple and husband Todd, and Susan Kowal. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Joshua, Rachel, and Timothy Temple; his sister, Alexandria (late Stephen) Sydorowicz of Buffalo, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

Harry was preceded in death by his brothers, Steve Kowal, Larry (late Marilyn) Kowal, Alexander Jr. (Edna) Kowal, and Nicholas (Anna) Kowal; his sisters, Ann (late Bill), Joyce, Dorothy (Edward) Gutowski; and infant grandson, Philip Stephen Temple.

A 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrat-ed on Monday, December 28, 2015 by Rev. C.J. Westfield at St. Anthony’s Church in Fredonia, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass and may call at the Fantauzzi Funeral Home, 82 E. Main St., Fredonia, NY on Sunday, December 27, 2015, from 3 to 7 p.m.

Donations to the Former Troopers Helping Hands, P.O. Box 432, West Seneca, NY 14224, in Harry’s memory would be gratefully appreciated by the family.

Interment will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Route 60 in Fredonia, N.Y.

All arrangements have been entrusted to Michael Robert Fantauzzi, director.

Born in Buffalo, New York. He was 82 years of age.
