Benjamin C. Henderson, age 80, of Dunkrik, NY passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016 surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on January 13, 1936 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Benjamin H. and Helen (Oszust) Henderson. Benjamin graduated from Dunkirk Industrial High School. He served as a Quartermaster in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. He was a former employee of Roblin Steel Company and a retired employee of Al Tech Specialty Steel. After retirement, he was a driver for Adventure Limousine and Paul’s Limousine Service. A very active member of the former St. Hedwig’s Church, now Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish, he served as an usher and was a member of the Holy Name Society where he was an integral part of the organizations’ activities. He also a member of the Kosciuszko Polish Home, the Polish Literary & Assembly Rooms (Dom Polski), the First Ward Falcon Club, the Dunkirk Falcon Club, and Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club, the Dunkirk Veterans of World War II and Moniuszko Club. He was a sixty-two year member of Murray Hose Company No. 4, where he was a delegate to the Southwestern Volunteer Firemens Convention. Benjamin was known to say, “Ma and I hit the jackpot with you kids… The Cream of the Crop.” Family was the most important part of his life. He enjoyed every moment spent with his children and grandchildren. Attending activities and games put many smiles on Dziadzi’s face and made him proud. Benjamin is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jane Rozen Henderson. He was the proud father of Mark (Kathleen) Henderson of North Royalton, Ohio, Kristan Henderson of Pennslyvania, Caryn (Charles) Nicosia of Fredonia, Bridget (Daren) Senfield of Orchard Park, NY and Steven (Jeana) Henderson of Dunkirk. He was the brother of Frances (Lester) Fuller and Robert (Marcia) Henderson both of Dunkirk. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Morgan (Luis) Aboite, Courtney Henderson, Stephanie Henderson, Paige Nicosia, Owen Nicosia, Carson Senfield, Garrett Senfield, Halle Senfield, Ryleigh Kinter, J. T. Kinter, great granddaughter, Geneva Aboite and many nieces and nephews. Preceding in death, in addition to his parents, is granddaughter Shannon Henderson. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10 A.M. in Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish-St. Hedwig’s Worship Site. Interment will follow in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3-7 PM to-
day. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish, the RO Foundation, 212 Lake Shore Drive, East, Dunkirk, NY 14048 or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Members of the Murray Hose Company No. 4 will meet at the Newman Funeral Home at 7 PM this evening.
