Raymond W. Ogden II

Raymond Wilson Ogden II, age 73, of Dunkirk passed away Friday morning (April 29, 2016) at Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa. He was born December 26, 1942. Ray was the beloved husband of Gladys “Dee” (Morrison) Ogden of Dunkirk. Dearest father of Robert (Elizabeth) Ogden of Horsham, England and Danyel (Scott) Murphy of Buffalo.

He was the proud grandfather of: Benjamin, Martha, and Tobias Ogden of England, and Kennedy Hurley and Zeya Salamone of Buffalo.

Beloved son of Evelyn Ogden and the late Raymond W. Ogden of Dun-kirk. Dearest brother of Lynn LaMattina-Ford (Bruce Ford) of Fredonia and Faith (Ronald) Lesandro of Hamburg.

Mr. Ogden was born in Buffalo and raised in Dunkirk, NY. On September 25, 1965, he married his high school sweetheart, Gladys Morrison. They raised their family and became involved in the community. He worked for National Fuel Gas Company until his retirement in 2007. After his retirement, the Ogdens became snowbirds and wintered in Naples, Florida.

Mr. Ogden was very active in the Masonic Order. He served as Master of Dunkirk Irondequoit Lodge #301 and Lodge #301 and Sylvan Chapter #258, The Order of Eastern Star elected him Patron in 1972 and 1978. He was recently given a 50 year pin for memberships in these organizations. He served as The Grand Steward of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons. The Lake Shore Chapter, Order of DeMoley elected him Master Councilor in 1962 and the International Supreme Council invested him with the Degree of Chevalier the same year. He was a member of The Scottish Rite, Valley of Jamestown; Dunkirk Chapter, Royal Arch Masons; Ismalia Shrine Temple, Buffalo; the Lake Shore Shrine Club; the Gowanda Shrine Mini-Corps. Other organizations are the Dunkirk Masonic Association, Masonic Temple Fund, Masonic-Knights of Columbus, and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 89 in Dunkirk.

Mr. Ogden was also First Lieutenant in the New York State National Guard, serving from 1964 until 2002. He was also a member of the Dunkirk United Methodist Church, where he served on many committees. Mr. Ogden was active in the Boy Scouts of America, and Troopers’ Toys for Tots. He was a member of the Road Runners’ Motorcycle Club, he loved riding his 1972 Kawasaki 750. He enjoyed time spent with family and tinkering on cars.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11 o’clock in the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Pastor Judith Cole will officiate. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Masonic services will be conducted Sunday evening at 7 o’clock with Eastern Star services to follow. Flowers are gratefully declined.
