Arthur Robert "Bob" McArthur

Arthur Robert “Bob” McArthur, Sr., age 77, of Dunkirk, NY died Tuesday, February 14, 2017 as a result of a motor vehicle accident.

He was born in Dunkirk on March 23, 1939, the son of the late Clayton McArthur and Agnes (Pease) McArthur.

A lifelong Dunkirk resident, he was a retired construction worker of the Union Local #210 in Buffalo. Following his retirement, he was a selfemployed carpenter and for many years worked as a deliveryman for Adam’s Home Furnishings.

Bob served in the U.S. Navy as a cook from 1956 to 1959.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a former member of numerous social and fraternal organizations. In his later years, he enjoyed cooking for his family and friends, artistic painting of landscapes and visiting the local Seneca Gaming Casino. He was a past President of the Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club.

Surviving are his children, Arthur R. (Dana) McArthur, Jr. of Virginia; Kelly McArthur of Florida; Randall McArthur of Fredonia, John Kuschel and Kimberly (Joseph) Ruiz, both of Dunkirk; his grandchildren, Jeremiah, Issiah, Michaella, Christopher, Nicole and Thomas; his brother, Joseph (Dawn) McArthur of Florida; his nephew, Eric (Tracie) Gloss of Dunkirk; his stepson, Kirk (Lisa) Kuschel of Arizona and many close friends as well as his canine friend, “Faun” and feline friend, “Budda.”

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Nancy (Gomiela) McArthur; his stepdaughter, Paula Kuschel and his brothers, William, George and Francis McArthur.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 19 from 47 p.m. at the Newman Funeral Home, Inc. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held Monday, February 20, 2017 at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Private interment will be in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Lakeshore Humane Society, 431 East Chestnut Street, Dunkirk, NY 14048.
