Alice L. Harford

Alice L. Harford, of Silver Creek, died Monday morning Aug. 14, 2017 at Heritage Village Rehab & Skilled Nursing Facility, Gerry, New York after a lenghty battle with Alzheimers. She was born in Silver Creek on Nov. 2, 1933. Daughter of the late Gerard and Alice (Hughes) Roetzer.

She received her B.S. in Education from SUNY Fredonia and her M.S. in Library Science from the University at Buffalo. Alice spent most of her career as a librarian for the Highland Elementary School in the Lake Shore School District. After retirment, Alice enjoyed time with her grandchildren and her husband and acted as the director of the Anderson-Lee Library in Silver Creek Throughout her life, Alice was an active member of the Silver Creek Board of Education, Tri-County Country Club and the Fortnightly Club. She was an avid supporter of the Fredonia Opera House and the BPO. Alice enjoyed an active life, which included tennis, travel, skiing and golf.

Preceased by her hus- band William J. Harford, Sr., dear mother of Sharon (R. Bradford) Malt, James (Debbie) Harford, Sandy (Robert) Kabus, David (Laura) Harford and William, Jr. (Julie) Harford. Alice was a grandmother of five grandsons: Alexander Malt, Bradford (Chip) MAlt, William (Jake) Harford, Griffin Kabus and Spencer Harford; and five granddaughters: Noelle Harford, Haley Kabus, Allison Harford, Emily Harford and Shelby Harford.

A Mass of Christian Buri al will be celebrated Sun day, Sept. 3, 2017 at St. Columban’s on the Lake. Family visitation is at 8:30 a.m. with services to follow at 9:30 a.m. Arrangements are by the HoleParker Funeral Chapel. Donations will be gratefully accepted in Alice’s name to the AndersonLee Library in Silver Creek (andersonleelibrary.com).
