Arthur Frank Waters

Arthur Frank Waters, 91, formerly of Ripley, NY, went home to meet His Lord and Savior on August 8, 2017, following a lengthy illness. He had resided at the Absolut of Westfield for the past three years.

Arthur was born in Ripley, NY, on March 14, 1926 to the late Arthur J. and Alice (Grover) Waters. He graduated from Ripley High School in 1944 and enlisted in the United States Army in 1949. However, due to a disability, Arthur was discharged. On August 27, 1960, he married Marian Kolpien in Westfield, NY. They were married 53 years.

Arthur worked at the Sunshine Packing Company in North East, PA, for 10 years. For 22 years, he worked for the W.L. McDonald Grape Farm until he retired in 1990. He also had worked parttime along side his wife, Marian, for the Town of Ripley, as a custodial worker for 20 years, retiring in 2002.

Arthur loved anything to do with agriculture, such as raising sheep in his youth, planting a garden in his backyard each year or collecting miniature John Deere tractors. He also enjoyed woodworking projects and carpentry work.

He was a 73-year member of the Ripley Grange, as well as the Ripley Senior Citizens and the Westfield Keenagers group. Arthur also attended the First Baptist Church in Ripley.

Arthur is survived by his son, Frank B. (Patricia) Waters; granddaughter, Carol (Waters) (Mitchell) Dabrowski; great- grandchildren, Ben and Avery Dabrowski, all of Harborcreek, PA; one sister, Irene (Waters) Plumb; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Kolpien Waters, who died on January 24, 2014; and one sister, Edith Waters, who died in infancy.

Arthur’s Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 4 p.m. with the Reverand Donald Eggleston officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service and may call at the Mathews Funeral Home, 104 West Main Street, Ripley, NY from 2 to 4 p.m.

Interment will be in the East Ripley Cemetery, Ripley, NY.
