Alvyn James Morrison
WESTFIELD — Alvyn James Morrison, age 91, of Martin Wright Road, Westfield, passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 20, 2018.
Alvyn was born on December 2, 1926 in Brocton, NY, the youngest of 13 children of Clayton and Dora (Leonard) Morrison.
An area resident all his life, Alvyn was a graduate of Brocton Central School. He was a hardworking man who owned and operated a beef cattle farm on Martin Wright Road in Westfield for many years, all while working several other jobs. He retired in 1988 from the former Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp. in Dunkirk and continued to run his farm until he reached 89 years old.
Alvyn was a faithful member of the Brocton Baptist Church. He loved the Lord Jesus with all his heart. He served his church and his faith in many capacities. He loved his family and embraced family fellowship as a priority.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Beatrice (Thompson) Morrison, whom he married on October 27, 1945, and by his three daughters: Yvonne (John) Blackburn of Westfield, NY, Kathy (Peter) Seidler of Hamburg, NY and Charleen Gilmore of San Antonio, TX, and by his three sons: Richard (Lynn) Morrison and James (Rachel) Morrison both of Westfield, NY and Kenneth Morrison of Forestville, NY. Alvyn is further survived by his daughter in law, Deborah (late Lewis) Morrison of Daytona, FL, his beloved 26 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, as well as his one sister, Grace Shirley King of Gerry, NY.
In addition to his parents, Alvyn was preceded in death by his son, Lewis Morrison, and by his siblings: Howard, Ernest, Clayton, Jr., Lillian, Dorothy, Isabelle, Ruth, Virginia and Gertrude.
Friends will be received on Saturday, March 3, 2018 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at The Brocton Baptist Church, 33 West Main Street, Brocton, NY, where a Memorial Service will be held 12:00 Noon with Rev. Larry Morrison officiating. Burial will be private in Webster Street Cemetery.
