Frances Crino Granata

Frances Crino Granata, age 87, passed away Sunday morning, February 4, 2018 at Brooks Memorial Hospital. Frances was a lifelong resident of Dunkirk, NY and was a graduate of Dunkirk High School class of 1947. Frances was one of seven wonderful children born to Dominic and Grace (Ricotta) Crino.

Before retirement, Frances worked many years at SUNY Fredonia as a Principal Stenographer in Administration, and was honored with many awards and recognitions for her stellar work ethic and excellence. Frances was elected to the position of the first President of the SUNY Fredonia Federal Credit Union in 1974 and has been honored with a scholarship for the past 18 years given in her name to area students.

Frances was also a founding member of the Mothers for Fair Child Support organization.

An avid gardener extraordinaire, Frances was admired for her talents in creating beautiful gardens that were enjoyed by all, loved music, had the voice of an angel and was a member of the Holy Trinity church and choir for many years.

Fran leaves behind her loving brother Sam Crino, her sister Phyllis (Crino) Syracuse, children Joe (Linda) Granata, Linda Granata, Dave (Karen) Granata, Larry (Sadie) Granata, along with nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Frances is also predeceased by her son Mark, sisters Stella Bozzella, Lucille Newell, Elizabeth Miller and brother Nick Crino.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass, which will be celebrated Saturday morning, February 10, 2018 at 10 o’clock at Holy Trinity Church. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Frances Granata Scholarship Fund SUNY Fredonia FCU.
