Efrain G. Ortiz

He was born Oct. 24, 1936 in Youc, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Carmelo Galarza and Enriqueta Ortiz. Efrain had worked in the farming industry at various companies in the area.

An avid outdoorsman, Efrain enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He also loved to cook, but his biggest joy in life was spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Juan A. Ortiz of Dunkirk and Efrain L. Ortiz of Pennsylvania; three daughters, Ashley N. Ortiz and Lisa M. Latimer, both of Dunkirk, and Beatriz Ortiz of Pennsylvania; mothers of his children, Cynthia Szach of Dunkirk and Lillian Rice of Pennsylvania; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Joshua Ortiz; two brothers, Condo Galarza and Juan Ortiz; and his loving companion, Janice Roman.

Memorial services will be held at a date and time to be announced. Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
