Eleanor T. Johnson

Eleanor T. Johnson, age 96, of Fredonia, New York died Sunday March 25, 2018, at the Chautauqua Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Dryden, New York to Harold and Blanche (Moarhead) Tripp.

Eleanor graduated from Dryden High School and Ithaca College, where she elected to membership S.A.I., the National Music Society. She did additional piano study from George Kelver of East Aurora. Eleanor was a music teach-er in Laurens, Dryden, Wilson and Gowanda Central Schools. For many years prior to her retirement, she taught piano privately in the Gowanda community.

Mrs. Johnson was an active member of the Free Methodist Church, having directed and accompanied church choirs in the communities in which she resided. She was an officer in the Gowanda Historical Society, Tri-County Auxiliary and Art Clerk. She was also a member of Fredonia Preservation Society, Friends of Barker Library, Antique and Collectibles Club and Share & Care Senior Center.

Survivors include: a son, David K. Jonson, of Park City, Utah; a sister-in-law, Virginia (Joseph) Kalla of Elma, N.Y.; one niece, Kathy (Bill) Reinard; a great-niece, and great nephew of Elma, N.Y.

In addition to her parents, Eleanor was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, William R. Johnson, whom she married Au-gust 24, 1945 and died July 28, 1996.

Funeral Services will follow on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Harvest Chapel Free Methodist Church, 39 Matteson St., Fredonia, N.Y.
