Lynn W. Varney

EDEN — Lynn W. Varney, formerly of Rt. 39 Perrysburg, passed away Thursday March 29, 2018.

Born in North Collins, NY the son of Andrew and Gladys (Allard) Varney.

Lynn married Marjorie Maines VanVleck Varney July 29, 1961 in Perrysburg; Marjorie passed away August 29, 2013.

Lynn retired from NYS. He worked as a locksmith at the former JN Adam Developmental Center. He had over 25 years of service.

Lynn enjoyed guitar playing. He played all around the area. His band, Lynn Varney and the Country Classics was well known and enjoyed by many. Lynn also was a member of the former Perrysburg United Methodist Church. He was a past member of the Gowanda Chapter Barber shoppers. He also was an exempt member of the Versailles Vol Fire Dept.

Survivors include a son James (Pam) VanVleck of Delaware; daughters: Joyce (Richard Sweda) Sherlock and Kathie (Michael Shaffer) Stiles all of Gowanda; grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive along with a brother Lavern (late Beverly) Varney of Perrysburg and 2 sisters: Marilyn (Late Hamilton) Johnston of Dayton and Lois (Norman) Johnson of Collins.

Besides his parents and wife, Lynn was preceded in death by a son, Randy VanVleck and a brother, Herbert Varney.

A funeral for Lynn will be held Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 11 a.m. from the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME, 44 Center St., Gowanda. (716) 532-4200.
