James E. Hughson

Wadsworth, OH — James E. Hughson, 93, of Wadsworth passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018. He was born October 15, 1924 in Buffalo, NY to the late Charles and Mabel Hughson.Mr. Hughson was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, was a WWII Veteran having served in the Merchant Marines, a member of American Legion Post No. 1280, Cassadaga, NY, a 55 year member of Forest Lodge No. 166 F&AM as well as a 32degree Mason and past president of the Empire State Grotto Association. He was also a member of the Eagles, Moose and Elks lodges.Jim was retired from Niagara Mohawk Power and was active as an adult leader in scouting where he was a cub master, scout master and had revitalized a scout troop earning him an honorary lifetime membership in the Cassadaga Elementary School PTA.He was preceded in death by his wife Lucille, brothers, Roderick, George, Charles, sister Jean, great grandson Tyler Wise and son in law Bud Steward.Jim is survived by his son James E. Hughson Jr. of Murfeesboro, TN, Gregory (Kathy) of Palatka, FL and daughter Michele Ste-ward of Wadsworth.There are six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren also surviving.The family will receive friends 12:30-1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 146 College St., Wadsworth, Ma-sonic services will be held at 1:30 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m.In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorial donations to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
