Joyce M. Luczkowiak, 83, a resident of the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk, formerly of Liverpool, NY, died Friday evening (June 22, 2018) at Brooks Memorial Hospital.She was born Jan. 17, 1935 in Dunkirk, the daughter of the late Leonard and Ruth (Thompson) Luczkowiak.A native of Dunkirk, Joyce was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, Class of 1952 and also earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Buffalo State University. She had been employed as an art teacher in Arcade, NY, Subic Bay in the Philippines, and Spring Valley, NY. Joyce was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Liverpool.Survivors include her longtime good friend and companion, Wayne Kellogg of Oswego, NY; cousin, Marilyn and Jack Panek of Dunkirk; godchild, Rachel (Daniel) Thomas of Erie, PA, and her children, Lauren, Emma, and Brooke Thomas; uncle, William Bannister of Dunkirk; and several cousins.Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated Thursday morning at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
