Kathleen J. Wise

Kathleen J. Wise, age 63, of Fort Mill, SC, formerly of Albany, N.Y., Loudonville, N.Y. and Fredonia, N.Y., died Monday June 11, 2018 in North Carolina. She was born in Dunkirk, N.Y. on January 27, 1955 to the late Earl F. and Barbara A. Steger Wise.

Kathleen graduated from Fredonia Central High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Alderson & Broaddus University in West Virginia and a Master’s degree from SUNY Albany.

Early in her career Kathleen worked for Chautauqua County. Once she completed her master’s degree she served as a legislative aid and legislative Advisor at the NYS Assembly, concentrating on education issues. After her working with the Assembly, Kathleen went on to work at the NYS Foundation for Scientific & Technological Innovation from where she retired in 2009.

Kathleen enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She made lifelong friends wherever she went. Kathleen enjoyed reading and was involved in various book clubs. She also enjoyed swimming, bocce ball and an occasional stop at a casino. Kathleen especially loved to travel. In particular she and her friend, Sue Speir, truly enjoyed travelling to Cheticamp in Nova Scotia where they enjoyed hiking, the beautiful scenery and seeing their many friends they made there during their nearly annual trips.

Kathleen is survived by: her dear friend Susan Speir; nephews: Aaron (Jennifer) Wise and Jacob Wise (Julie Post), several great nieces and nephews, several aunts, uncles and cousins. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her brother Robert Wise.

Calls may be made Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Laona United Methodist Church, 9636 Wilson Road, Fredonia, N.Y. where funeral service will follow at 10 am.
