Marion Elizabeth Wykstra

Marion was born to Lester and Blanche Hemphill February 16, 1926 in Dunkirk, NY. Marion had one sister Beth Marie Hemphill of Angola, NY.

Marion graduated from Dunkirk High School and attended the Teachers College in Fredonia, NY. Marion loved teaching children and continued to work part-time as she raised her family.

Marion was married to Gerald Wykstra and established a well-loved home at 22 Holmes Place Fredonia, NY. Marion had three sons, David (Florence Van Wie), Paul (Mary Ann), and Peter Wykstra. Marion had three grandchildren as well, Melissa, Jesse (Mercedes), and Jennifer Wykstra.

Marion loved many things throughout her lifetime, most dearly her family, friends, and church. Marion was a lifetime member of Dunkirk United Methodist Church. Marion sang in the church choir, arranged flowers for services, and hosted many events. Marion loved riding her bicycle with her best friend, Marilyn Graves, on a regular basis, attending concerts in the park, and daily walks downtown for lunch.

Marion was preceded in death by her beloved husband Gerald (1993), her oldest son David (1999), and her sister Beth Marie (2012).

Marion requested her body be donated to science at the University of Buffalo NY. A memorial service followed by reception will be held Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 11 am at the First United Methodist Church, 601 Washington Ave, 14048.
