Charles E. Gillette, 65, of Fredonia died Friday morning (Nov. 23, 2018) at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk.He was born May 20, 1953 in Shirley, MA, the son of the late Charles and Anne (Weinkertz) Gillette. He had been employed by the New York State Thruway Authority as a toll collector, and also by Jamestown Community College as a self defense instructor.A lifelong Fredonia resident, he was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, Class of 1971. Charles was a social butterfly, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he knew. He made friends easily, and brought a smile to the face of everyone he encountered. He was devoted to his children and was always one of their biggest fans. He believed in, and encouraged those around him to chase their dreams. No matter the circumstance, Charles never hesitated to lend a helping hand. He loved hard, and had a heart big enough to share a piece with everyone he knew. He was an incredible teacher, motivator, and father. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.Survivors include; one son, Bacchus Gillette of Fredonia; two daughters, Rhiannon (Tyler) Overmire of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA and Vanessa (Kailey) Gillette of Tustin, CA and their loving mother, Marlene Zacharias; two sisters, Linda (Larry) Richardson of Cape Coral, FL and Theresa (Paul) Speziale of Coconut Creek, FL; three brothers, Marty Gillette of Lexington, KY, Robert Gillette of Marion, SC, and

Jimmy Reilly of Dunkirk; and several nieces and nephew.Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, James Reilly; and sister, Ann Garcia.A gathering in Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
