Dr. Ganesh Deshpande
Dr. Ganesh Deshpande passed away in Falls Church, VA on December 25th, 2018 after a brief illness. Dr. Deshpande was born in 1946 in Bombay, India where he enjoyed a childhood filled with love from his parents and sisters. He followed in his father’s footsteps, pursuing a career in medicine. In 1975, he settled in Western New York, practicing at the Children’s Hospital of Buffalo and with the Hemophilia Center of Western New York before opening his own pediatric office in Fredonia in 1988. He often spoke proudly of the practice he started and fondly recalled the patients he served over the years.Dr. Deshpande married his wife of 45 years, Maneesha, in 1972. He loved to talk about the accomplishments of their children, and enjoyed taking trips to see sights and visit close friends. Over the years, he visited five continents. He was also a train enthusiast who enjoyed riding Amtrak and discussing the chaos of the Victoria Terminus.
After retiring, Dr. Deshpande moved with his wife to the warmth of Florida. They lived there for six years before relocating to Virginia to enjoy time with their grandchildren. His grandchildren were the joy of his twilight years. He delighted in picking up his granddaughter from school, and watching her learn new things and in every new discovery his toddler grandson discovered. Dr. Deshpande is survived by his loving wife and partner in all things, Maneesha of Falls Church, Virginia, and children Akshay (Yvette) of Campbell, California and Ashwini (Christopher) of Arlington, Virginia. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Ellora and Theodore of Virginia, and sisters, Veena, Jyostna, and Warsha of Mumbai, India, as well as several nieces, nephews, and good friends — all of whom he cherished deeply. A service and celebration of life will be held in Virginia. In lieu of Flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Hemophilia Center of Western New York Foundation, 936 Delaware Avenue, Suite 300, Buffalo, NY 14209.
