Mary Jane Crowell

Mary Jane Crowell, 94, of Howard Street, Fredonia, formerly of South Dayton, died Tuesday, April 9th, 2019 at her residence. She was born in the Town of Portland, on September 20, 1924, the daughter of the late George and Lulu (Woods) Farnham. Mrs. Crowell was a member of the former Grape Bunch Camping Club and was one of the longest residents of Fredonia Place, residing there since 2005. She loved to bake and enjoyed being with family.

Survivors include a son, Terry (Donna) Crowell, of South Dayton; four daughters, Barbara (George Czumaj) Marowski, of Angola; Betty Crowell, of Brocton; Brenda (Gerald) West, of Hamburg; Briget (Jeffery) Johnson, of Perrysburg, son-in-law Charles Johnson of Cattaraugus, two brothers Tom (Jessie) Farnham of Mayville and Fred (Shirley) Farnham of Stockton. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, five step great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Walter R. Crowell, whom she married on November 29, 1945 in Fredonia and who died April 6, 2002, daughter Bonnie Johnson, sister Gladys Woleben and two brothers William & George Farnham.

Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Saturday, April 20th from 10-11 AM where a Memorial Service will follow at 11 o’clock, with Rev. James Witherington, Jr. , Hospice chaplain, officiating. Interment will follow in Forestville Cemetery. The family suggests memorials may be made either to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care, 20 W.
