Donald L. Cross

Donald L. Cross, 88, of Silver Creek, passed away Monday (May 6th, 2019) at his home.

He was born May 6th, 1931 in Lawtons, NY, the son of Merton and Helen (Van Rensselaer) Cross.

A graduate of Gowanda High School in 1949, he then attended the retail business management program at a state college in Utica.

Don was a Christian man, married to the late Dorothy (Ingraham) Cross for 54 years. Their first date was at an ice cream stand in August of 1961. They purchased that ice cream stand 20 years later in August of 1981 and were the owners of the Frosty Treat from 1981-1995.

Don worked at Frosty Treat for a total of 37 years until the end of the season in 2018 and cherished visiting with regular customers and seeing new faces.

He was a longtime member of Christ Chapel Wesleyan Church in Silver Creek, and valued the fellowship and relationships he made there over the years. An avid model car collector, he also enjoyed gardening, spending time with his family, traveling, taking photographs and shelling on the beaches of Sanibel Island, FL.

He is survived by a sister, Barbara (Robert) Irons of Franklin, PA; his son, Darrell (Rebecca) Cross of Rotonda, FL; his daughter Dawn Cross of Buffalo, NY and her children, Kelly Saez of Buffalo, NY, Justin Saez of Edenton, NC, and Kurt Nagel of Buffalo, NY; and two great-grandchildren, Carmelo Incorvaia and Cayson Incorvaia.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard and Wayne Cross.

At Don’s request, there will not be any memorial or funeral services, and the family will hold a private ceremony at a later date.
