Doris M. Rogers

She was born July 14, 1935 in Sheridan, New York the daughter of the late Donald and Alice (Jolls) Harvey.

Doris was a 1953 graduate of Pine Valley Central School and retired from the Mayville Diner, where she had been a cook for 10 years. In earlier years, in addition to being a home maker, she had worked at the Marlin Rockwell Corporation in Jamestown, National Worsted Mills in Falconer and for Skill Craft (Cherry Creek Wood Crafters) in Cherry Creek. Doris was a life member of the Cherry Creek Veteran of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Mayville American Legion Auxiliary. She loved flowers and flower gardening, but most of all, she loved her family and spending time with them and attending family dinners. Doris was a huge New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills fan.

She is survived by a daughter; Becky (Pat Benson) Root of Randolph, a son; Bradly Rogers and wife Florence of Little Valley, a sister; Sally Clark and husband Dallas of Arizona, three grandchildren, Nate (Peggy) Root, Donald (Ashley) Rogers and Lindsay (Nick) Whitford, five step grandchildren; Christa Monter and family, James Monter and family, Kelly Priest and family and Haley and Kayla Whitford, as well as 5 great grandchildren and a brother-in-law, Al Bull of Celoron, NY.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Albert L. Rogers, whom she married on December 26, 1954 and who preceded her in death on October 19, 1995, a son-In-Law; David Root and siblings; Donald Harvey Jr., Clifford Kellogg, Jeanette Moore, Donna Bull and Joan Bauer.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday (May 22, 2019) in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church Street, Randolph, where services will follow at Noon. The Rev Jennifer Delahoy will officiate. Burial will follow in the Cherry Creek Central Cemetery.
