Ruth Frost Swica, 87, of Wichata Falls, Texas died June 18, 2019 in the Gables Rolling Meadows Nursing Home. She was born October 10, 1931, in Arkwright, NY and raised on Van Buren Road, Dunkirk, NY, the daughter of the late George and Inez (Chase) Frost.

Ruth graduated from Fredonia High School and Bryant and Stratton Business College and was employed as financial secretary at Fredonia Teachers College.

Ruth was an accomplished accordion player in the “Corn Husker” and “Red River Rambler” bands. She was also an experienced horse rider, she led trail riders on the Frost Ranch of Van Buren.

Joseph Swica, born December 4, 1929 in Dunkirk, NY. He served in the Army from 1951-1953. After serving in the Army, he married Ruth in 1955 and he worked with Certainteed Fiberglass Co. and they traveled where ever his career took them.

They settled in Wichata Falls, TX in 1976. Ruth became a Century 21 Real Estate Agent until her retirement.

Ruth’s friends, Rene Schockley and her son, Edgar, have been her caretakers for many years.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband on November 30, 2000.

She is survived by one brother, William B. (Lucile) Frost, one niece, Cathy (Leroy) Parker and two nephews, William J. Frost and Steven (Ashley) Frost. Four grand-nephews and one grand-niece and two great-grand-nieces.

A graveside memorial for both Ruth and Joseph will be held on Friday, July 12, at 1 p.m. in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Fredonia.
