Teresa S. Gornikiewicz

She was born April 1, 1928 in Dunkirk, the daughter of the late Leonard and Clara (Schrantz) Bernatowicz. A lifelong resident of Dunkirk, Teresa was a graduate of Dunkirk High School.A homemaker, Mrs. Gornikiewicz was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Church. She enjoyed gardening and had a sense of humor that always brought a smile to everyone.

Survivors include two daughters, Jean (Craig) Sutton of Dunkirk and Linda (Wayne) Palmatier of Fredonia; two grandsons, David (Amy) Palmatier and Mark Palmatier; and two great grandchildren.Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward I. Gornikiewicz, who died Dec. 3, 2013; two sisters, Marge Ferrugia and Marie Aniszewski; and two grandsons, Joseph and John Gizowski.Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock in Holy Trinity Church. Calling hours will be held to-day from 4-7 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
