Robert W. Swoger

Robert W. Swoger, formerly of Ripley, NY, died at the VA Hospital in Erie, PA on September 8, 2019.

On October 25, 1940, Robert was born in Brownsville, PA to the late Deanth and Hazel Swoger. Robert was educated through the Ripley School System and continued his education at various colleges. He joined the US Air Force from whence he earned an honorable discharge. He found the love of his life, the late Sharon Reslink, whom he married in Ripley. His likeness for Ripley also extended to his financial career to provide for his family. He graduated as an accountant and established the Swoger Booking Services. Robert was a member of the United Methodist Church of Ripley and the Ripley Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed playing bingo, collecting trains and handing out pens to his friends.

Robert is survived by his children, Dean (Bonnie) Swoger, Denene (Charles) Faso Jr., Pam Swoger, Isabella Rosa and Brian Swoger, as well as six grandchildren. He is further survived by his sisters, Marge Butcher and Sandy Wagner, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife (who died in 2018), he was preceded in death by his brothers Leonard and Dick Swoger and five sisters, Hazel Swoger, Mary Witt, Agnes Simous, Jane Trippey and Della O’Dell.

Robert’s Funeral Service Will be held at the Mathews Funeral Home, 104 West Main St., Ripley, NY, on Friday, Sept. 13, 2019 at 10 a.m. The Reverend Beekey Ward will be officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service and may call at the funeral home on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019, from 5-7 p.m.

Interment will be in Quincy Cemetery of Ripley, NY. All arrangements have been entrusted to Michael R. Fantauzzi, Director.
