Sandra L. Sinare

She was born Aug. 21, 1949 in Dunkirk, the daughter of Joseph Catalano of Dunkirk and the late Beatrice (Pilarski) Catalano. A lifelong area resident, Sandra was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, Class of 1967 and

was also a graduate of Erie Community College. Prior to her recent retirement, she had been employed as a medical receptionist for Dr. Michael Lahood at Northern Chautauqua Eye Clinic in Dunkirk.

Sandy was a loving mother, loyal sister, and wonderful caretaker to her father.

She was a dedicated parishioner of Holy Trinity Church. Her “grands” were her entire world. When she wasn’t spending time with her grandchildren, Sandy spent time with a very large friend network. Sandy loved to travel with her friends and go on day trips with her Senior Citizen Group.

In her spare time you would find her tending to her yard, completing crosswords with her morning coffee (and probably a cookie), shopping, and she loved to clean.

Survivors include one son, Scott A. (Fay) Sinare of King George, VA; one daughter, Jill C. (Mario)

Avila of Rochester; five grandchildren, Anthony Joseph Sinare, Genivieve Sophea Sinare, Nico Ernesto Avila, Giuliana Lee Avila, and Carmen Anthony Avila; two sisters, Kathleen (Joseph) Carrus and Debra (Kenneth) Buck, both of Dunkirk; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony J. Sinare, who died Oct. 15, 1988; and her infant sister, Cynthia Catalano.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated Wednesday

morning at 10 o’clock in Holy Trinity Church. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Burial will be in Portland Evergreen Cemetery.
