LAKEWOOD — Marjorie Gloria Gill Allesi, 92, of Lakewood, NY crossed over peacefully at 5:10 pm Monday, November 11, 2019, surrounded by loved ones.

An area resident for most of her life, she was born August 1, 1927 in Buffalo, NY a daughter of the late Henry and Leora Sweet Gill.

A graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School, Marjorie went back to school in later life, earning degrees from Jamestown Community College and the State University of New York at Fredonia.

A spiritual and highly spirited woman, she was a member of the Church of the Living Spirit in Lily Dale, NY and the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Jamestown, the Lakewood-Busti Golden Agers, the Robert P. Illig Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary the Veteran of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Marjorie was generous with her time, money, and wisdom. She spent many hours happily volunteering at St. Susan’s Center, St. Luke’s Thrift Shop and supporting many regional and international charities.

Surviving are a son, Kevin Allesi of Fredonia, NY; two daughters, Kathleen Allesi of Washington, DC, and Maureen Allesi of Batavia, NY; three grandchildren, Faith Allesi-Jones of Fredonia, Jessica Barker of Erie, PA, and Spencer Salamone of Batavia; four great-grandchildren, Jonas Jones, Marla Henderson both of Fredonia, Kylen Jackson, Lilyanna Seip both of Erie, PA; several nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, neighbors and her feline companion.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Allesi whom she married October 5, 1946 and who died April 12, 2003; two daughters, Colleen Alessi-Sweeny who died May 31, 2006 and Bonnie J. Alessi-Barker who died July 27, 2015; three sisters, Marie McClure, Avis Gill and Shirley Buelow.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Ronald Skowronski of the Church of the Living Spirit will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Lake View Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 3-6 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
