Laura Allen Haberer

Laura was born August 22, 1962 in Gowanda the daughter of Jack and Betty ( Rothfuss) Allen.

A 1980 graduate of Gowanda Central, Laura went to work after graduating with the Western NY DDSO. She retired in 2017 after 37 years of state service. At the time of her retirement she was a job coach. Laura was a 12 gallon blood donor with the Red Cross, an organization she also volunteered with. Laura also ran in various 5k charity events and volunteered at the Dayton Food Bank and the Kevin Guest House in Buffalo. Laura was an escort with many of the trips and cruises offered through People and Places of East Aurora. One to appreciate a bargain , Laura enjoyed yard sales and crafting .

Surviving besides her mother, Betty Allen of Collins are 2 children . Sarah ( Joseph) Schubbe of Elma and Jared Wygant (currently serving with the U. S. Navy at Virginia Beach , Virginia ), Grandchildren Sadie E. Wygant and Jackson J. Schubbe. Laura is also survived by 2 sisters Cathleen S. Allen of Hamburg and Julianne M. Allen of Charlottesville , Va . along with several nieces and nephews .Laura is also survived by many AFS students ( her extended family ) that her family sponsored through the years and include Olfa Bouhachem Benabid of Tunisia and Al-berto Padavan of Italy .

Laura was preceded in death by her father Jack Allen (May 28, 1989)

The family will receive friends on Saturday February 1, 2020 from the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME 44 Center St. Gowanda from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (dress is casual please bring a memory , share a laugh to celebrate Laura’s life) . A Celebration Reception will follow at 3 p.m. at the Pioneer Camp and Retreat Center 9324 Lakeshore Rd. Angola.

In lieu of flowers , the family suggests memorials to People and Places 76 Riley St. East Aurora 14052 where the Laura Allen Haberer Memorial Traveler Scholarship is being set up, or to a charity of ones choice in memory of Laura .
