Phillip J. “SARGE” Rodriguez of Florida, formerly of Dunkirk died Thursday (Nov. 14, 2019) in Florida.

He was born April 16, 1958 in Westfield, the son of the late Rafael and Eleanor Mae (Neill) Rodriguez. Phillip served his country in the U.S. Army from 1975 to 1978. Among his many duties while stationed in Germany was guarding the Berlin Wall.

Phillip had been employed by the City of Dunkirk for 20 years, then moved to Florida where he worked as a truck driver and also did paving work.

He lived and loved life to the fullest and especially enjoyed music, motorcycle runs, camping, fishing, hunting, and just riding his Harley. A man with a great sense of humor, Phillip will be deeply missed by his wife and two sons.

Survivors include his wife, (soul mate and best friend) Ellen (Szczerbacki) Rodriguez; two sons, Phillip Rodriguez Jr. of Sugar Hill, GA and Vitold “Vito” Rodriguez of Florida; four sisters, Carol (late David) Palmer of Fredonia, Cheryl (late James) Huels, Barb (Tom) Lundgren, and Linda Rodriguez, all of Dunkirk; six grandchildren; and many dear nieces and nephews.
