Robert G. Burt, Jr.

Robert G. Burt, Jr. known as “eBay Bob” or “Walmart Bob”, age 66, passed away peacefully March 8, 2020 at UPMC Hamot surrounded by the love of his family. He had a brief bout of very aggressive cancer.

Bob was born in Westfield, NY March 6, 1954 the oldest child of Robert G. Burt, Sr. and Elsie Gene (Niles) Burt.

He was a 1972 graduate of Fredonia High School where he was proud to be a part of their winning basketball season. He also received a degree in Business Management from SUNY Fredonia. While in the Army National Guard, he studied electrical wiring and schematics at Fort Knox.

Bob was never afraid of hard work. He was employed as a supervisor by Kraft, Cliffstar, Ocean Spray and had managed a motel on Cape Cod with his first wife and his son.

Bob always had a strong entrepreneurial spirit. In 2001 he was able to make that spirit a reality. He started an eBay store with his current wife and in more recent years he was able to expand his business to Amazon. He had the foresight to know that e-commerce was the future. He had mentored others in online selling. He also enjoyed time with his family, bowling, the Buffalo Bills, the NY Yankees and watching old b&w movies with his wife. He had also been a former Eucharistic Minister and parishioner at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Dunkirk.

He is survived by his loving wife, Helen D. Burt whom he married March 27, 1999, his son Jeffrey (Deborah) and grandson Michael. He is further survived by his sisters: Susan Trippi and Heidi (Michael) Formanowicz, two nephews, several cousins and his beloved canine companion, Ruben.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his first wife, Helene A. (Hofer) Burt and brother-in-law, Anthony Trippi.
