Earline Smith

Earline Smith, 77, of Dunkirk, died Saturday morning (April 25, 2020) at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk following a brief illness.

She was born May 2, 1942 in Dawson, Georgia, the daughter of the late Earle and Fannie Lou (Green) Watson.

A longtime resident of Dunkirk, Earline had been employed at SUNY Fredonia since August, 1976 and retired in May, 2004. She was an active member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and served on the board of D-F NAACP.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmie Lee Smith; two daughters, Teresa Knighton and Brenda Miller; three grandsons, John and Nakita Knighton, and Kelton Miller; one granddaughter, Shanay Miller; three sisters, Annie Pearl Lewis, Sarah Jackson, and Eva Watson, all of Albany, GA; cousin, friend and neighbor, Veronice Jones of Dunkirk; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Lorine Jordan; and four brothers, Earl Watson, Jr., Willie B. Watson, Henderson Watson, and Roosevelt Watson, all of Albany, GA.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Countyline Cemetery in Sasser, GA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
