Janice Anderson

Janice A. Eddy Anderson, 80, of Mayville, formerly of Route 60, Gerry, passed away Friday, April 24, 2020, after a short illness at Select Specialty Hospital, Erie, PA. Born Oct. 2, 1939, in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late Milfred F. and Florene G. Greene Eddy.

A Chautauqua County resident all of her life, she was a 1956 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School.Jan was employed at Weber Knapp, Jamestown, directly from High School and was later employed as a medical assistant for Dr. Wolinski and Greenbaum, D.D.S., Jamestown; Allegheny Podiatry, Jamestown; and then at Heritage Village, Gerry, as a Nurses’ Assistant. She also served on the Board of Elections for the Town of Gerry. She was a member of Ellery Senior Citizens and attended Stockton Community Church.

Jan loved her family and being involved, not only with her children, but also her grand and great-grandchildrenás activities, which included attending every athletic event, keeping every newspaper clipping, giving countless hugs and kisses, being their biggest fan and cheerleader, baking and cooking for them, listening to the music they made, attending musicals and plays, spending time at Onoville on the water and campsite, and family trips to Myrtle Beach, SC. Jan also loved regular lunch get-togethers with the cousins and her closest friends. She was fortunate to enjoy two cruises in the past few years; one with her nephew, Jack Eddy, and her sister and best friend, Phyllis Ames, and most recently, with her sister, Phyllis, and Janás niece, Tammy Denison. Nothing was more important to her than being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. Family was everything.

Wife of 52 years to the late Jon H. Anderson whom she married Aug. 9, 1958, and died Sept. 5, 2010; mother of, Julie R. (Roger) Zahm of Gerry and Jon H. (Kelly) Anderson Jr. of Mayville; grandmother of Ryan (Misty) and Randy (Christina)Zahm all of Sinclairville, Christian Anderson of Hamburg and Olivia Anderson of Mayville; great-grandmother of Grace and Grant Zahm of Sinclairville; sister and best friend of Phyllis M. Ames of Stockton and the late Phillip L. Eddy. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, her cat, Gidget, and her best friends. We love you a âBushel and a Peck, and a Hug Around the Neck,ã always.

Funeral service will be private. A Celebration of Life is being planned and will be announced when allowed. Jan and her husband, Jon, will be buried together in Gerry Cemetery, Gerry.
