Frances Irene (Pierce) Lepp

Frances Irene (Pierce) Lepp of Fredonia, N.Y., passed away peacefully Saturday evening June 13, 2020, in her home, after a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was 89.

Born on Jan. 27, 1931, in Buffalo, N.Y., to the late Herbert and Cassie (Abbey) Pierce, Fran lived in the Fredonia area her entire life and attended Fredonia schools.

Upon marrying the love of her life, Art Lepp, she became a full time homemaker, dedicating her life to raising and caring for her seven children. The love she had for her children, home, friends and family was boundless, and she often opened her door to nieces, nephews and neighbors, caring for them as her own.

Fran’s early life was filled with cooking and home- making, and in her later years she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, putting together puzzles, reading, observing birds, enjoying nature, going to casinos and traveling. Fran and Art were snowbirds for years spending winters at their second home in Hernando, Fla. Fran also enjoyed people- watching, which once led to her witnessing and identifying a purse snatcher.

Fran is survived by her loving husband, Arthur Lepp; children: Cassie Rose, Arthur (Barb) Nolan, Beverly Hallquist, Kimberly (Alan) Stewart and Susan Nolan, all of Fredonia, N.Y., and Michele (John) Yorke of Dunkirk, N.Y.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters-in-law: Marge Pierce, Martha Pierce and Marge Slominski- and many nieces and nephews, all whom she loved dearly.

Besides her parents, Fran is preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Nolan II; a son. Harry “Rook” Nolan, his wife, Bertha and their son, Harry “Bud” Nolan; sons-in-law: Ronald Rose and Gerald Hallquist; siblings: Howard Pierce, Robert Pierce, Richard Pierce, Herbert Pierce, infant, Ellen Pierce and Doris Slater; several brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Due to Covid-19 health regulations and protocol administered by the state of New York, visitation will be private. A graveside service and interment will be officiated by Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care Chaplain, James D. Witherington Jr. at the Webster Road Cemetery in Fredonia, N.Y., Town of Pomfret on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at 1 p.m. COVID-19 regulations require 6ft social distancing and face masks to be worn. A celebration of life will be held at a later date once restrictions are lifted.
