Kathleen Polowy Kavanaugh

Kathleen Polowy Kavanaugh, 75, of Pueblo, Colo., passed away recently after a lengthy battle with breast cancer.

Born to Daniel and Dorothy Polowy in Dunkirk, N.Y., she graduated from Cardinal Mindszenty High School, earned a Bachelor of Science degree (Summa Cum Laude) in nursing from Niagara University in 1966, and was the class valedictorian. She later earned an Master of Science degree in nursing education from New York University in 1968. She spent more than 50 years in the nursing profession, specializing initially in adolescent psychology, and in later years in geriatric psychological issues.

During this time she lived in New York City, Brussels, Belgium, Chicago, Ill., Croton on Hudson, N.Y., Huntersville, N.C., and Pueblo, Colo. She is survived by her husband William; two children: Meghan and Brendan (Natisha Brown); grandsons: Riley and Tynell; and a brother, Daniel.

Due to the current health crisis, a memorial will be held in the future in New York City.
