Merry C. Ivory

Merry C. Ivory, 66, of Dunkirk, N.Y., passed away suddenly with her family at her side on Monday, July 13, 2020, at Buffalo General Hospital.

She was born Dec. 25, 1953, in Dunkirk, N.Y., and was the daughter of the late Patrick and Lucy (Lazarony) O’Hara.

She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Thomas J. Ivory, and their children: Michele (Steve) Griffin of Penn Yan, Joseph T. (Mary) Ivory of Fredonia, and Sarah (Eric) Alexander of Penfield. She was the proud grandmother of Tyler and Kaley Griffin, Megan, Julia and Gabriella Ivory, and Emma and Reese Alexander. She is also survived by her siblings: Kathleen O’Hara of Ocean City, MD, Patricia Bradley of Milliken, CO., Harry (Chris) O’Hara of Fredonia, her twin Carol Bradley of Fredonia, and many special nieces and nephews.

Merry was a graduate of Fredonia High School and Alfred State with a degree in court reporting. She was a bookkeeper and secretary of D&F Pallet since its inception in 1977, until it sold 40 years later. She enjoyed spending time watching her kids play sports and was a Team Manager for NCCYHA Steelers High School Hockey. This enjoyment continued as she watched her grandchildren excel at sports. She always seemed to bring them the best luck. Puzzles, bing and trips to the casino were always fun hobbies for her. Watching the Buffalo Bills while quilting or crocheting blankets for others were also things that she enjoyed.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 17, from 4-8 p.m. at McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. A mass of Christian burial will be Saturday July 18, 2020, at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church.
